Like managers and umpires gathering around home plate before a baseball game, the official start of contract negotiations began Wednesday, May 7 with the ground rules establishing what is fair and foul before the opening pitch on Monday, May 12.

CSLEA Recoups Unpaid Overtime for DDS Peace Officers
Unit 7 Members to Split Nearly One-Half Million Dollar Settlement
CSLEA is pleased to report the successful resolution of an ongoing dispute over unpaid overtime compensation for Peace Officers employed at a number of Department of Developmental Services (DDS) facilities.
The recent settlement was triggered by a grievance initially filed on November 8, 2006, by CSLEA Sr. Legal Counsel Dave De La Riva on behalf of Peace Officers employed at Canyon Springs Developmental Center for failure to pay overtime in violation of Article 7. More... |

Police had suspected him shortly after the April 22 murder, but had scant evidence to prove anything.
That was in 1977. California Supreme Court Upholds Unconditional Reinstatement of Department of Health Services Investigator
Court Denies Petition for Review of Appellate Decision
In one sentence the California Supreme Court brought to an end the two year quest of Alberto Hulings to enjoy the benefit of the State’s mandatory reinstatement law. The Court’s decision said simply; “The petition for review is denied.”

As it did at the state Republican Party Convention in San Francisco in February, the CSLEA PAC Committee turned out in force for the Democratic Party Convention in San Jose March 28-30.

Arbitrator Hears Safety Retirement Dispute
CSLEA Presents Strong Case for Retroactivity
This past week, March 18-21, CSLEA presented its case to Arbitrator Bonnie Bogue, that the retirement enhancement provided to convert Unit 7 employees from miscellaneous to safety retirement should also include credit for service previous to July 1, 2004.
