ACE-led Conservation Corps crews helping battle Northern California wildfires
Just as their Southern California counterparts did so well in helping defeat last fall's blazes, so too are bands of 18- to 25-year-old California Conservation Corps members right now in assisting firefighters with as many as 800 blazes dotting Northern California.
As of June 25, more than 650 corps members in 53 crews were lending a vital hand to firefighters from Monterey County, where the Indian Fire is consuming 60,000 acres, to as far away as Plumas County, where one fire spawned smaller ones far and wide. More... |

I know that there are a lot of rumors and innuendo out there in regards to the “leak” of information from the California Conservation Corps (CCC) that we may move out of the Resources Agency and into a new state agency under the Governor’s Office. This idea has been bandied about for a number of years and most recently came out after the California Performance Review (CPR) made its recommendations. More... |
