About State Employed Fire Fighters Association
There are only about 50 in number, but to thousands of Californians, each one is a life saver.
The members of the State Employed Firefighters Association (SEFFA) work for five different state agencies, and their primary purpose is to protect lives and some of the most valuable property the people of California own.
But for thousands of Californians in unincorporated and small communities around those facilities, and for those traveling along the highways and byways nearby, it is a SEFFA member who is first on the scene to put out a fire, render medical aid, or bring out the jaws-of-life to disentangle a head-on collision.
Tucked away at Hearst Castle, Camp Roberts, Yountville Veterans Home, The State Hospitals at Atascadero, Coalinga, Napa and State Developmental centers Sonoma, Porterville and Lanterman, the men and women of SEFFA - in addition to performing their specific jobs - also offer mutual aid to cities counties and are often the first emergency responders on scene.
Employed by the state departments of Military, Parks and Recreation, Veterans Affairs, Mental Health, and Developmental Services, SEFFA firefighters have one of the widest ranges of job challenges and experiences of any public-safety employees in California. In fact, at Hearst Castle, Camp Roberts, and Yountville, SEFFA Firefighter/Security Officers have additional responsibilities of law-enforcement for their facilities.
This web site will highlight some of that varied experience. Thank you for visiting it, and please check the web sites of the above departments if you would like to explore a career as a SEFFA member: the few, the proud, and - to a lot of people - the first there when there is trouble.
