Tentative Agreement Ratified by Membership
Nearly 70% of Eligible Voting Unit 7 Members Voice Approval
On June 21st CAUSE reported a preliminary count of ballots submitted by Unit 7 members indicated 68% of those casting ballots had voted for ratification. Based on the ratio of yes to no votes, CAUSE declared the Contract ratified by the membership.
As the postmark deadline was extended to June 17th, ballots continued to be counted throughout last week. After counting the additional ballots the ratio improved to nearly 70%.
Also, despite concerns over the Postal Service's delay in delivering ballots, approximately 42% of eligible members cast ballots, which is roughly the same percentage of eligible members who have cast ballots in prior ratification elections.
CAUSE understands the Contract is less than what Unit 7 members deserve, but the vote evidences many CAUSE members have seen enough out of the current Governor's Administration to understand that under these difficult political times, this was the most that could be achieved.
