CAUSE, DPA meet over pay parity issue
Further meetings on salary equality planned for coming weeks
CAUSE met with Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) on January 17 to discuss salary inequities between our members and other government employees doing similar work at the state and local levels.
This meeting was unusual in that DPA does not normally meet with state employee unions to discuss salary adjustments while the parties are under contract.
DPA listened to CAUSE President Alan Barcelona's request to provide greater salary equity and reviewed data presented by CAUSE. The parties plan to get together again in a few weeks after DPA has a chance to review the information submitted and discuss options within the Administration.
We expect that these discussions will involve requests from both labor and management. It is our intent to represent our members' interests vigorously as these meetings proceed over the next few weeks.
